Mission Statement

The South Sound Shockers Athletic Association
(SSSAA) is an organization that attempts to moderate the negative
impact of school budget cuts. The organization, headed by a
well-trained staff, provides no cost athletic training, nutritional
information, physical education, and career counseling programs.
This grass-roots program attempts to moderate the negative effects
of school budget cuts in Washington State. The SSSAA is in its
third year of operation. It began as an outreach program designed
to work one on one with athletes who could not otherwise afford
specialized training. The organization has increased staffing each
year and is expanding their offerings to formal camps open to
athletes of all economic backgrounds. The organization has survived
on private funding as well as sponsorships from small companies. It
has created training opportunities to children who could not receive
this one on one interaction elsewhere, and has assisted athletes in
improving their skills, allowing some to continue on to careers in
competitive sports.
SSSAA provides athletic-oriented educational services to school aged
children and their parents. The program provides a stimulating
environment for children that addresses their intellectual, physical
and social-emotional growth and assures mastery in many of the
skills required to succeed in athletic endeavors. The goal is to
prepare these children for futures in athletic careers, fostering
their self-confidence and high self-esteem as well as providing a
basic, thorough foundation for future success in athletics and in
life.
The children who attend the classes and participate in the skills
camps are instructed by professionals with years of athletic
experience, as well as certifications in personal training,
education, nutritional counseling, and coaching. Many have received
recognition from their peers in the form of awards for their
efforts.

Our staffing is deeply committed to obtaining excellence in the
field of youth athletics, and is composed of player volunteers who
have experience in all areas of athletic achievement: personal
training, coaching, nutritional counseling, and education. A board
of directors handles the coordination of activities and
organizational aspects of the association.
The staff provides educational programs addressing healthy
nutrition, injury prevention and care, careers in sports, and
acquiring scholarships, as well as offering one on one specialized
training in football technique, weightlifting technique, and camps
designed to increase speed on the field—a skill that crosses lines
into all sports realms.
Governed
by a Board of Directors, the SSSAA utilizes the expertise of
volunteers and contracted professionals in it's goal of bettering
the lives of our community youth and increasing the opportunities
for those kids coming from financially strapped families.

Did You Know?
Only 2% of school aged children are taking
part in sports programs once they enter the high school
level? Schools are cutting sports programs and turning
over control of those programs to private clubs, "elite",
and "select" teams. Thousands of children and their
families can no longer afford to pay to play sports.
