Sports Nutrition, in fact life nutrition is
one of the most important aspects of any individual program
for healthy living. Taking in the proper foods,
calories, and paying close attention to things like enzymes
can be the difference between good and great! We take
the approach of teaching kids how to make healthy choices
from the beginning, that way they never have to succumb to
"fad dieting", crash dieting, and being drawn towards
harmful eating disorders. For the aspiring athlete,
getting the correct amount of proper nutrients is the key to
fueling hard working muscles and giving the athlete that
internal edge. |
|
Speed
Enhancement. One of the single most
talked about aspects of any athletes abilities. Every
coach in every major sport wants the fastest athletes on his
team. We work the athlete from the very basics of
creating explosive muscle power and muscle endurance.
Key components to being fast. From sprinter
speed, to on field or on court quickness, we attack all
aspects of creating and maintaining an athletes speed,
quickness, agility, balance and overall athleticism. |
 |
 |
Strength & Power. Every athlete needs
the ability to move their own bodyweight in quick change of
direction and in leaping and jumping. Weight training
gets your body ready for that increased force of gravity and
inertia on the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints.
Incorporating free weights, balance discs, plyometrics and
other training techniques, the young and older athlete can
reach their peak potential of athletic ability. We
strive to stay on the cutting edge of strength training, but
never losing sight of the "old school" tried and true
methods that have served top athletes for decades. |
|
Injury Prevention & Care
is probably one of the most overlooked aspects of a
young athletes training. The old adage "NO PAIN, NO
GAIN" has it's place in the gym, but how does a youngster
know the difference between soreness and injury? When
is working through the pain doing more harm than good?
How many 12-year old aspiring baseball players never
attained their goal because an injured elbow was never
properly diagnosed and treated? We will work with each
individual athlete and talk about common injuries in their
specific sport(s). This will give them the knowledge
to know when their body is trying to tell them to take a
break, before IT breaks. |
 |
 |
Massage & Bodywork have gained more tread in
the last 10 years, but not at the youth level. Boys
especially tend to shy away from the idea of "massage", but
it can expedite the recovery from injury and can increase
blood flow flushing toxins from the body that are hampering
other body functions. The skin is the largest organ a
human being has and very little attention is given to it in
terms of health. Deep tissue work can help break up
scar tissue from previous injuries and increase range of
motion decreasing the chance of further injury to the same
area. Rolfing is another aspect of soft tissue
manipulation helping to realign the body and flush out
toxins that cause muscular soreness. |
|
Homeopathic Considerations will also be
discussed with athletes. Today's high profile sports
figures are quick to stump for pharmaceutical companies the
latest and greatest in sports enhancers, pain relievers, and
other pills to give you "the edge". Discussions about
natural pain relievers that are applied through the skin
rather than overstressing body systems like the kidneys and
liver through the increased dosages of pills and chemicals.
Nature has it's own remedies which if utilized properly may
give an athlete just as much of an edge as any high priced
lab produced chemical. |
